October 1999
The final two
public meetings for the Ouachita Loop MIS were held in early October and presented the
Major Investment Study report. The final public meeting for the West Monroe/West
Ouachita area was held on Monday, October 4, 1999 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the West
Monroe City Council Chambers. The final public meeting for the
Monroe/East Ouachita area was held on Tuesday, October 5, 1999 from 6:00 PM to
8:00 PM in the Monroe City Council Chambers.
In addition, the final meeting of the Ouachita Loop MIS Steering
Committee was held on Tuesday, October 5, 1999 in the Monroe City Council Chambers.

June 1999
The Ouachita Loop
MIS Steering Committee held its fifth meeting on May 26, 1999 at the Monroe City Council
Chambers. Visit the Public Participation page for notes
from this and all other Steering Committee meetings. At the May 26th meeting, there
was a review of the Economic, Transportation, and Environmental Impacts Analysis
Memorandum, and Alternative 1 was selected as the Locally Preferred Alternative for the
MIS.

June 1998
The Final Purpose
and Need statement for the Ouachita Loop was approved by the Federal Highway
Administration and was concurred upon by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in July of 1998.
